Doing genealogical research can be both fun and challenging! I have the luxury of having many people in my family still alive and able to answer any questions that I may have. I joined Ancestry.com several years ago and right away I was able to fill in my immediate family members and my extended family members! I have gone back and forth on Ancestry between their three membership types, U.S. Discovery, World Explorer, and All Access. I recommend unless you already have knowledge or access to someone who has knowledge, just try one of the monthly memberships. If you are unsuccessful or find that Ancestry does not have the records you need to carry out your research you don’t want to pay for 6 months or a year of a service you are not going to use. However, you should check the website for their refund policy! The reason why I have teeter tottered between types of subscriptions is that my needs changed. There are times when I need more information than the U.S. Discovery subscription can give me. I also recommend checking to see if they have any upcoming deals or specials. Often times they will give you a certain percentage off if you purchase a 6 month or year subscription! The best part about Ancestry, is the excitement that you get when a little green leaf pops up! This lets you know that they have hints about your family, whether its other relatives or other types of records. They have Census, birth, marriage, and death records! They also have some military records! I will continue to add tips and tricks here! If you have any specific questions, do not hesitate to use the contact us form and I will respond in 24 hours!
